THE
NEW LIGHT STUDIO GALLERY TO PRESENT “ARTIST EQUINOX”
FINE ART EXHIBITION
Collection will include
art works from the children of “Kids in Distress”
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL (March 31, 2004) - The New Light Studio
and Gallery will present a collection of new Paintings, Drawings
and Photography in an exhibition entitled "Artist Equinox".
Opening reception will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004, from 7:00
p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the New Light Gallery, 106 Bouganvilla Drive,
just south of Commercial Blvd, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida.
The exhibition will include
work from resident Artists; Wendy White and Roland Ruocco with pieces
submitted by their art students who participate in the studio's
weekly art classes. Guest artists will include local artists; Hegina
Rodrigues, Andrew Leone, Jim Madden, Vee, and Dutch Artist, Peter
Sinnige. In addition there will be a presentation of art created
by children from the “Kids in Distress” organization
who take part in art workshops provided exclusively by the New Light
Foundation. Proceeds of any artworks offered for sale by the young
artists will be donated to the “Kids in Distress” organization
in Fort Lauderdale; a shelter for abused and neglected children.
Wendy White will show
her latest creations in the “Abstract Impressionism”
style. In these paintings, she juxtaposes abstract yet representational
images on backdrops of emotional color fields resulting in powerful
and dreamlike images of land and seascapes. She will also be exhibiting
pieces from her “miniatures” series. These pieces are
no more than 4”x 5” in size.
Roland Ruocco’s
latest works in the “South Florida School of Art” theme
employ his vision of tropical landscape interpretation. “These
paintings are about aspects of light, and sky, which I feel are
the most compelling aspects of our natural landscape - the subtle
yet awesome effects of light on the color and form of palms and
ocean to form a tapestry that is simultaneously serene and dynamic.”
He will also have additional
pieces in his “Modern Times” series, a collection punctuated
with social and political commentary. Ruocco uses a variety of painting
styles in mixed media that include graffiti elements. These works
depict fear, complacency, omnipotence and the need for peace, love
and brotherhood.
The New Light Gallery
donates a percentage of its art sales to its scholarship fund. In
addition, the New Light Foundation promotes the arts through community
outreach. As artists with a following in New York and Europe, Wendy
White and Roland Ruocco are in their third year in their working
art studio and gallery in South Florida.
The exhibition,
"Artist Equinox" runs from April 24, 2004 through August
