Collection will include works from Kids in Distress and 2003 New Light Foundation Scholarship award winner

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL (July 14, 2003 )- The New Light Studio and Gallery will present a collection of new works in an exhibition titled "Summer Showcase" at the New Light Gallery in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Saturday, July 14, 2003,
from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The exhibition will include work from resident Artists Wendy White and Roland Ruocco with pieces submitted by art students who participate in the studio's weekly art classes. The show will also feature sculptures of the 2003 New Light Foundation Scholarship award winner Jashona Johnson, who will also receive her award certificate during the evening. In addition there will be a presentation of art created by children from the Kids in Distress organization who take part in art workshops provided exclusively by the New Light foundation. Proceeds of any artworks offered for sale by the young artists will be donated to the Kids in Distress organization.

This is the second annual 2003 New Light Foundation Scholarship which is awarded to a high school senior who will attend college in the fall. Funding for the New Light Foundation's Scholarship awards are provided from a percentage of Wendy White's and Roland Ruocco's fine art Painting sales at their New Light Studio.

Wendy White will show her latest creations in the "Abstract Impressionism" style. In these paintings, she juxtaposes representational images with backdrops of color that form landscapes. She has also completed several new landscape images influenced by Vincent Van Gogh.

Roland Ruocco's latest works in the "South Florida School of Art" theme employ his vision of tropical landscape interpretation.
"These paintings are about aspects of light, and sky, which I feel are the most compelling aspects of our natural landscape - the subtle yet awesome effects of light on the color and form of palms and ocean to form a tapestry that is simultaneously serene and dynamic."

He will also have additional pieces in his "Modern Times" series, a collection punctuated with social and political commentary. Ruocco
uses a variety of painting styles in mixed media that include graffiti elements. These works depict fear, complacency, omnipotence and the need for peace, love and brotherhood.

The New Light Gallery donates a percentage of its art sales to its scholarship fund and New Light Foundation to promote the arts and community outreach. As artists with a following in New York and Europe, they are in their second year in their working art studio and gallery in South Florida.

The exhibition, "Summer Showcase" runs from August 9, 2003 through November, 2003. Original paintings, drawings, limited editions and commissioned projects are available at The New Light Gallery at 106 Bougainvillea Dr. in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
